    Program Details

    Adult-Gerontology Primary Care
    • Learn how to prevent, diagnose, and treat common health problems while focusing on at-risk and vulnerable populations.
    • Be prepared for a wide variety of settings including private practice, public clinics, hospital-based outpatient clinics, and specialty practices.
    • Gain the skills you need to manage healthcare for adult and older adult patients and prepare you to take either the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) or the American Association of Nurse Practitioners® (AANP) exam to become certified as a nurse practitioner.
    Family Nurse Practitioner
    • Explore the psychological, social, cultural, environmental, and economic influences on health care and be prepared to meet the needs of diverse groups and populations.
    • Prepare to build your practice as a nurse practitioner or work in a variety of settings including private practices, public clinics, or hospital-based outpatient clinics.
    • Gain the knowledge necessary to take either the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) or the American Association of Nurse Practitioners® (AANP) exam to become certified as a nurse practitioner.
    Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner
    • Learn to provide a full range of mental health services to clients across the life span, with clinical rotations primarily in in-patient, outpatient, and community residential settings.
    • Focus on prevention, diagnosis, and management of both acute episodic and chronic mental illnesses.
    • Gain the knowledge necessary to take the Psychiatric National Certification Exam and seek state certification and employment as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse with prescriptive authority.
    Certificate Options

    La Salle University also offers post-master's certificates in Adult Gerontology Primary Care Nurse Practitioner, Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner, and Family Primary Care Nurse Practitioner.

    This post-master’s certificate option is available for nurses who currently hold a Master of Science in Nursing degree. A gap analysis is done to determine which courses would be needed to complete each certification.

    Meet The Faculty

    Dr. Kinder, Ph.D., MSN, PNP, brings decades of experience in maternal-child health and neonatal intensive care to her teaching at La Salle. A Pediatric Nurse Practitioner, she has worked in acute care, community settings, and leadership roles, mentoring future nurses and nurse practitioners. She earned her BSN at La Salle, her MSN at Gwynedd-Mercy, and her Ph.D. at Widener, where she researched parent satisfaction with PNP care. Passionate about pediatrics, leadership, and public health, she integrates real-world clinical cases into her teaching.

    Dr. Tait, Ph.D., MS, FNP, joined La Salle University in 2015, bringing extensive experience in nursing education and clinical practice. She has worked in medical-surgical nursing, OB/GYN, managed care, family practice, and urgent care. Earning her BSN from Lakeview College of Nursing and her MS as a Family Nurse Practitioner from Indiana State University, she later completed her Ph.D. in Nursing Education at Capella University, researching incivility in nursing education. A recipient of the 2023 Lindback Distinguished Teaching Award, Dr. Tait specializes in curriculum assessment, NCLEX preparation, pharmacology, and pathophysiology.
